Do you ever have CREATIVE MOMENTS OF GENIUS at the most random times?
Like when you take a shower for instance? I’m sure many of us have!
I don’t know if its the sound of the water hitting the floor or maybe just the soothing effect of taking a warm shower. Well, whatever the reason, I have heard many people who’ve been inspired from taking a shower and it had me thinking….
Where are people mostly inspired and how can we maximise on these moments of genius?
There are times when you just feel like you have been inspired to start something great or implement an amazing strategy at work or create an idea that will change the game completely!
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.” – Martha Graham
For most people ideas strike them at the weirdest times, from being inspired while they are at church or even right in the middle of the night when they can’t seem to sleep, while driving through traffic, talking to a friend on the phone, running in nature, some say music can inspire creativity or even working under pressure! I think the key thing to note is; one must know which environments inspire creativity so that they can optimize on these “sacred moments of genius”.
“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” – Maya Angelou
Create enabling solutions that will allow you to record whatever comes to mind, like keeping a notepad and pen at your bedside, or running with your mobile phone so that you can record yourself whenever ideas strike, do whatever it takes because once you forget those brilliant ideas, they are as good as dead.
I’ve discovered from my own experience that being present allows me to maximise on my creativity and be in the moment.
“Draw the art you want to see, start the business you want to run, play the music you want to hear, write the books you want to read, build the products you want to use – do the work you want to see done.” – Austin Kleon
Recognise environments that heighten your creative moments of genius and always be prepared for when that perfect idea strikes- you just never know when, so its always better to be prepared!
